GFG Training

Hey there, it's Amanda. I'm back with another update. I wanted to let you guys know that in addition to the podcast, I have also started a new training program! So, I am now going through the training program with the GFG or the Gesellschaft fur Geburtsvorbereitung to become a Fable teacher and Baby Massage instructor. This all started a couple of months ago and the training will continue on through most of 2026. It might even extend into 2027 if I decide to continue to become a Ruckbildung instructor. Let’s see what happens!

It all kind of happened organically. I started teaching last fall at the Familienzentrum in Westend, teaching Mindful Mama Sensory and Support classes. I really love working with women in transition. That's one of the things that I love the most about working with pregnant moms is helping them to process this big transition to parenthood, this transition that they're going through in their bodies and their identities, and then once the baby gets here, in their everyday lives. The Mindful Mama Sensory and Support Class is there to help them to not feel alone and to navigate those early days as a new parent when the learning curve is so steep and the nights are so short. I put together this class and this curriculum to help support moms through this space and time. And it occurred to me, with the help of Daphna, the amazing leader of the Familienzentrum, that it could also be very interesting to do the Fable training, as a way to enhance and support the work that I am already doing. I really want to help families to navigate their early parenthood journey, from the first positive pregnancy test all the way through that critical first year of life.  The Fable training is all in German, which is a big challenge for me, and will give me an interesting behind the scenes view into the infrastructure behind “German parenting culture” (which is obviously a massive generalization as there are MANY types of parenting cultures in any one country but should be interesting just the same).  So I'm bringing this new information and perspective to my Mindful Mama Sensory and Support classes. My classes have a pretty international bend and perspective as the majority of the moms that are in my class are international or in international relationships. Doing a purely German training program with this particular cultural lens (and language- yikes) promises to be interesting and I will take you along on the journey here!  OK, until next time- take care.
